What EyeVerdict is, and what it isn’t
A small platform of interactive decision tools for eye-care purchases — progressive vs bifocal configurator, reading-glasses strength estimator, and a dry-eye drops comparison engine. Built by an optometrist, reviewed by a separate medical professional, funded by affiliate commissions disclosed on every page. No brand-locked quizzes, no “Top 10” listicles, no paid placement.
What we do
EyeVerdict ships three tools:
- Progressive vs Bifocal configurator — 8 questions about your screen use, driving, current eyewear, and budget. Returns a lens-type recommendation and a small set of retailer options.
- Reading-glasses strength estimator — an arm’s-length distance test plus age and intended use, returning an estimated diopter range. An estimator, not a prescription.
- Dry-eye drops comparison — a filterable comparison of OTC drops by active ingredient, preservative status, and contact-lens compatibility.
Each tool asks 4–10 questions, runs the answers through a rule-based decision tree, and returns a category recommendation plus retailer options. Average completion is under one minute.
How recommendations are made
All routing is deterministic. Each quiz answer maps to a recommendation through documented rules, reviewed by a licensed eye-care professional who is not the author. We do not use language models, machine learning, or any non-deterministic system to produce health recommendations.
Where clinical evidence exists, we cite it inline — at minimum three peer-reviewed sources per 800 words of medical content. Citations are drawn from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the National Eye Institute, JAMA Ophthalmology, NEJM, and Cochrane reviews.
Read the full methodology for the rules behind each tool, and the medical review board for author and reviewer credentials.
How we make money
EyeVerdict earns affiliate commissions when visitors purchase products through outbound links to partner retailers — including Zenni Optical, GlassesUSA, EyeBuyDirect, Peepers, and Amazon. The commission is paid by the retailer at no additional cost to the buyer.
We do not run paid advertising. We do not accept sponsorships, paid product placement, or “editorial fees.” A brand cannot pay to be featured in any tool result.
Retailers in our recommendation sets are chosen for relevance to a quiz outcome, verified affiliate-program eligibility, and the absence of FDA or FTC enforcement on their claims. They are never ranked by commission size alone. Read the full affiliate disclosure for the partner list and how commissions are tracked.
What EyeVerdict is not
- Not medical advice. Every tool ends with a prompt to consult a licensed eye-care professional. See the full medical disclaimer.
- Not a brand-locked quiz. We are not affiliated with Systane, Refresh, or any single manufacturer. Cross-retailer comparison is the entire point of the product.
- Not a listicle. We do not publish “Top 10 Best...” content. Articles exist only as background for the tools.
- Not a diagnostic tool. Any answer suggesting a potential eye emergency triggers a hard-route overlay that suppresses recommendations and directs the user to urgent medical care.
Where we operate
EyeVerdict launches in English for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Affiliate links are geo-targeted to retailers that ship to the visitor’s region where possible. German-language support is planned for a second phase. Other languages are not supported in the initial release.
