No. EyeVerdict is an educational platform of interactive tools. It does not replace examination, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed eye-care professional. Every tool result ends with a prompt to consult your optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Who builds and reviews the tools?

Accepted Answer

Tools are authored by a licensed optometrist and reviewed by a separate licensed eye-care professional (OD or MD). Every medical page shows the named author, the named reviewer, and the last reviewed date. Reviewer credentials are independently verifiable through the relevant state or national licensing board.

Do you sell glasses or eye drops?

Accepted Answer

No. EyeVerdict does not sell, fulfill, or ship any product. We provide neutral decision tools and link out to third-party retailers through affiliate links. We have no inventory and no commercial relationship with any individual product.

Question 4

How are recommendations made — do you use AI?

Accepted Answer

No. Recommendations come from rule-based decision trees that map quiz answers to lens categories or product classes. Every rule is documented, reviewed by a medical professional, and version-controlled in our source code. We do not use language models or any non-deterministic system to produce health recommendations.

Question 5

Is the reading-glasses strength tool a prescription?

Accepted Answer

No. The tool produces an estimated diopter range based on age and self-reported reading distance. It is an estimator, not a prescription. Confirm any strength with an eye exam before purchasing prescription lenses.

Question 6

What are hard-route symptoms?

Accepted Answer

Hard-route symptoms are signs of a potential eye emergency — including sudden vision loss, new flashes or floaters, severe eye pain with nausea, halos around lights with headache, a curtain or shadow across vision, a painful red eye, vision change after head injury, and sudden double vision. If you indicate any of these in a quiz, the tool suppresses all product recommendations and directs you to seek urgent medical care.

Can these tools help with cataracts, AMD, or glaucoma?

Accepted Answer

No. Cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma are diagnosed conditions that require examination, monitoring, and treatment by an ophthalmologist. EyeVerdict tools do not diagnose, treat, or manage these conditions. If you have or suspect one of them, see a specialist.

How does EyeVerdict make money?

Accepted Answer

EyeVerdict earns affiliate commissions when users buy products through outbound links to partner retailers such as Zenni Optical, GlassesUSA, EyeBuyDirect, Peepers, and Amazon. The commission is paid by the retailer at no additional cost to you. We do not run paid advertising on the site and do not accept paid product placements.

Are recommendations ranked by commission size?

No. Decision trees route quiz answers to a lens category and budget tier first, then surface partner retailers whose typical price range and geographic coverage match. Within a matching set, order can favor higher-commission partners — but a retailer is never included or excluded based on commission alone. The set is curated by a licensed eye-care professional.

Why are some brands featured and others not?

Partners are included only if they have a public affiliate program, a verifiable inventory we can map to a lens category, and no documented FDA or FTC enforcement against their claims. We exclude brands that make compound disease-treatment claims (covering AMD, glaucoma, cataracts, and dry eye simultaneously) because such claims are at or past the FDA structure-function boundary for dietary supplements.

Do you store my quiz answers?

Quiz inputs are stored anonymized — they are not linked to your name, email, or IP address by default. We retain the output state (the category our decision tree assigned) so that you can return to your result via a unique URL. If you opt in to email delivery of your result, your email is stored for that delivery and any drip series you subscribed to.

Is my data shared with third parties?

We use Google Analytics 4 and Yandex.Metrika for aggregate traffic analysis, and Resend for transactional email if you opt in. No ad pixels (Meta, TikTok, Google Ads) are loaded on the site. We do not sell or share personal data with data brokers or advertising networks.

Question 13

How often is content reviewed and updated?

Each medical page carries a last-reviewed date and is re-reviewed at minimum every 90 days. We re-review sooner when relevant clinical evidence changes — for example, when a new randomized controlled trial alters a treatment claim, or when an FDA or FTC enforcement action affects a brand we link to.

Do you support UK, Canada, and Australia?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The English content is shared across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Affiliate links are geo-targeted so that a UK visitor receives a UK-eligible retailer where possible. German-language support is planned for a second phase. Other languages are not supported in the initial release.
